Service-Learning

The Honors Program at Barry is designed to challenge, enrich, and prepare especially motivated students to pursue their fullest potential. By participating in a rigorous curriculum rounded out by an array of edifying and interactive events, students explore crucial issues that we face in our daily lives. Students are given the space for discussion and debate and the opportunity to learn from experts in their fields. The Office of Financial Aid can assist with determining eligibility for the Honors Program.

The Monsignor William Barry Memorial Library is located in the center of the beautiful Miami Shores campus of 51²Ö¿â. The Library is named in loving memory of Monsignor William Barry, one of the founders of 51²Ö¿â and an inspirational figure in the Catholic Church within the Archdiocese of Miami. The extensive Library research collections include more than 950,000 physical items, over 40,000 print and on-line journal subscriptions, and several thousand on-line books and streaming video resources.

At 51²Ö¿â, you will experience a small community atmosphere where you can always rely on our administrators and faculty for advice, encouragement and personal attention. We take great pride in giving individual attention from the very beginning. You can start building a personal relationship with one of our admissions counselors who will help answer any questions, and guide you through the entire admissions and enrollment process.

Continuing Education (CE) offers a variety of courses and non-credit programs designed to respond to the diverse educational interests and lifelong learning needs of individuals of all ages. We offer certificate, credential exam preparation, and licensure programs for professional and personal enrichment.

Distance Education

We are committed to providing programs and services that are guided by 51²Ö¿â's rich educational mission and intended to enhance your Barry experience. Through partnerships with others in the university community, we aim to create experiences that will help transform you into leaders for a just and humane world.

We are an NCAA Division II school and a member of the Sunshine State Conference with 12 varsity teams, including men's baseball, basketball, golf, soccer and tennis; and women's basketball, golf, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. So far, we've won 24 NCAA championships, had 338 All-Americans, 413 Scholar All-Americans, and nine NCAA "Women of the Year" finalists, the most of any Division II school. Not bad at all, but we're going for more.

Payment Plan Benefits

Once you are registered for the term, you can sign up for a payment plan which provides:

  • Easy online plan enrollment
  • College expenses paid over time
  • Electronically processed payments on the due dates
  • No interest
  • Students’ ability to assign users (like parents or family members) to make payments
  • Multiple payments versus one lump sum
  • Students’ ability to meet payment due dates
  • Avoiding a late fee

Before You Enroll in a Payment Plan

  1. Ensure that all financial aid is in place and requirements for disbursement are met.
  2. Contact Office of Student Accounts if you anticipate receiving funds from a third party such Florida Prepaid or other government and private entities.
  3. Carefully review your Barry student account to ensure all charges are correct and in place. Charges such as room, meals and health insurance are added or adjusted at different times after you register.
  4. Read and review the payment plan information outlined below.

Payment Plan Frequently Asked Questions

  • At the time of plan enrollment, all approved or pending financial aid is subtracted from the actual term balance to determine the student's out of pocket amount to be paid in installments.

  • Only BarryU Online programs and Continuing Education programs are NOT eligible for payment plans.

    • Yes, there is a $35 non-refundable enrollment fee. Other fees could be incurred for late or returned payments.
    • $35 non-refundable enrollment fee
    • $30 returned payment fee

  • If your charges or aid change after you are enrolled in a payment plan, future payment plan installment amounts will be recalculated. Notifications about adjustments in your payment plan will be sent to you via email.

  • Yes, the payment plan is set up as automatic payments. Payments are processed on the payment due date.

    • Credit or Debit card (2.85% service fee is added to each charged amount)
      OR
    • ACH Payment from your designated checking or savings account (no additional fee)

  • Registration begins April 1 and payment plan enrollment begins on April 1 as well with seven payment dates (5/1, 6/1, 7/1, 8/1, 9/1, 10/1, & 11/1). Last enrollment date is October 1st for two payment dates (10/1, 11/1). Enroll as early as possible to ensure the lowest monthly payment.

    • Having an account balance greater than $1,000.00 and enrolled in a Fall 2024 payment plan does not prevent the non-reversible late fee and still prevents you from registering for Spring 2025 classes.

  • Registration begins November 6 and payment plan enrollment begins on November 1 as well with five payment dates (12/1, 1/1, 2/1, 3/1, & 4/1). Last enrollment date is March 1st for two payment dates (3/1, 4/1). Enroll as early as possible to ensure the lowest monthly payment.

    • Having an account balance greater than $1,000.00 and enrolled in a Spring 2025 payment plan does not prevent the non-reversible late fee and still prevents you from registering for Summer/Fall 2025 classes.

  • Yes, re-enrollment in the payment plan is required each semester.

NOTE: PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYMENT OF ALL TUITION, FEES AND OTHER CHARGES. Consequently, no student will receive a diploma until all of his/her financial obligations, including any collection and/or attorney fees, to the University are paid in full. Any and all payment plans need to be paid in full prior to release of diploma. Cash or credit card payments are the fastest ways to clear your account and thereby ensure the rapid release of the above item. Payments made by local checks or E-checks (ACH bank transactions) require 10 business days and out-of-state checks require 15 business days to clear the bank before your diploma will be released.
