Health InsuranceÌýÌý

To protect our student’s health and wellbeing, 51²Ö¿â strongly recommends that all students remain properly insured with health insurance that provides them full health care benefits in the location they are taking classes or participating clinical rotations.  51²Ö¿â is pleased to be able to continue to offer to our students group health insurance plan. The 2024/25 student insurance will be offered through United Healthcare Student Resources. This coverage provides national coverage throughout the United States in addition to medical repatriation and extradition while traveling abroad.Ìý Students will be billed once in the fall semester and then again in the spring for the spring summer semester.ÌýÌý

All students residing in campus housing, international students, including commuters, attending 51²Ö¿â with an F-1 or J-1 visa, all athletes and undergraduate nursing students will be automatically billed for the student health plan. In addition, all graduate students enrolled in the Podiatric, Physician Assistant, Anesthesia, Law, Graduate Social Work, Graduate OT and students participating in intercollegiate athletics, will be billed automatically at the beginning of each semester.ÌýÌý

All students billed for the student insurance plan are responsible for providing proof of health insurance through a hard waiver process during the waiver period.Ìý If your insurance has been determined to meet the waiver requirements by an independent audit through the waiver system, students will receive an approval and their student account will be adjusted.Ìý Students failing to do a waiver during the open waiver period, will be responsible for the cost of the student insurance plan on their student account.ÌýÌý

Students who applied for resident housing or moved off campus during the semester will still be responsible to complete the waiver if billed.Ìý Students who move off campus during the semester will not be credited for student insurance after the waiver period.ÌýÌý

It is the student’s responsibility to read their Barry assigned emails and check their student accounts.Ìý Failure to read emails will not be a reason to reverse the billing for the student health insurance after the waiver period.Ìý

Domestic commuting students will no longer be billed for student insurance unless they are included in the required student groups stated above, nor will they be eligible to enroll in the student insurance Commuter students who require insurance can contact Student Health Services for assistance...ÌýÌýÌý
