Service-Learning

The Honors Program at Barry is designed to challenge, enrich, and prepare especially motivated students to pursue their fullest potential. By participating in a rigorous curriculum rounded out by an array of edifying and interactive events, students explore crucial issues that we face in our daily lives. Students are given the space for discussion and debate and the opportunity to learn from experts in their fields. The Office of Financial Aid can assist with determining eligibility for the Honors Program.

The Monsignor William Barry Memorial Library is located in the center of the beautiful Miami Shores campus of 51²Ö¿â. The Library is named in loving memory of Monsignor William Barry, one of the founders of 51²Ö¿â and an inspirational figure in the Catholic Church within the Archdiocese of Miami. The extensive Library research collections include more than 950,000 physical items, over 40,000 print and on-line journal subscriptions, and several thousand on-line books and streaming video resources.

At 51²Ö¿â, you will experience a small community atmosphere where you can always rely on our administrators and faculty for advice, encouragement and personal attention. We take great pride in giving individual attention from the very beginning. You can start building a personal relationship with one of our admissions counselors who will help answer any questions, and guide you through the entire admissions and enrollment process.

Continuing Education (CE) offers a variety of courses and non-credit programs designed to respond to the diverse educational interests and lifelong learning needs of individuals of all ages. We offer certificate, credential exam preparation, and licensure programs for professional and personal enrichment.

High school students: Get a jump-start on your college education with dual enrollment courses from 51²Ö¿â! You can earn high school and college credit at the same time, right at your own school.

Distance Education

We are committed to providing programs and services that are guided by 51²Ö¿â's rich educational mission and intended to enhance your Barry experience. Through partnerships with others in the university community, we aim to create experiences that will help transform you into leaders for a just and humane world.

We are an NCAA Division II school and a member of the Sunshine State Conference with 12 varsity teams, including men's baseball, basketball, golf, soccer and tennis; and women's basketball, golf, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. So far, we've won 24 NCAA championships, had 338 All-Americans, 413 Scholar All-Americans, and nine NCAA "Women of the Year" finalists, the most of any Division II school. Not bad at all, but we're going for more.

Why a Professional Coaching Certificate Program?

This Professional Coaching Certificate is an 11-month program designed for those pursuing a career in coaching and looking for premier preparation to coach clients in top leadership positions.  The program curriculum is centered on the competencies and highest standards set by the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

Our 125-hour program offers remote instruction with live sessions targeting ICF competencies with peer practice, real-time feedback, and mentoring.

These sessions provide real-world scenarios that provide a backdrop for acquiring and mastering the ICF core competencies. Completion of this program will prepare you for ICF certification.

Coaching is one of the top growing careers in the United States and the world. Leaders, managers, and organizational practitioners can incorporate coaching skills into their job or business and become influential drivers of productivity, innovation, resilience, and wellbeing in their teams and organizations. Our goal is to prepare leaders and organizational practitioners to meet the requirements of the ICF credentialing process. At the end of the program, participants should be prepared to apply for either ACC or PCC credential with the ICF. Participants will also receive a Professional Coaching Certificate from 51²Ö¿â. Professional Coaching is a thriving and rewarding profession and having industry credentials matters. In fact, a recent survey of experts in the field has found that clients expect their coaches to be certified/credentialed. Reference: ICF Global Coaching Study (2020) administered by PWC. Faculty

Tuition Payment, Fees, Withdrawals, and Refunds

Withdrawal from a course, with refund of tuition, is permitted up to seven (7) days after the course start date. Refunds may not be processed until a written request is received. After that date, there is no refund of tuition, and the full tuition is the financial responsibility of the student. If we are asked to bill a company and the registrant does not attend, the company will be billed unless the registration is cancelled in advance.

51²Ö¿â reserves the right to cancel any class because of insufficient registration. Continuing Education students should refer to the Student Bulletin, Financial Information, available at /en/academics/adult-learners/.

  • The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

  • It is recommended that you have a bachelor's degree or five years of related experience.

  • 51²Ö¿â is in the process of completing all the requirements for an ACSTH accreditation application with the ICF.
